Halloween is fast approaching, and I want to share a few of my favorite movies and annual TV specials I like to watch.
The first is the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. I love the first two films, Freddy’s Dead, and 2003’s Freddy v. Jason. I tried to get into the other films in the franchise, but they all seemed cheesy to me.
Next up is Death Becomes Her, starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Wilis. The scene with Meryl’s head twisted toward the back of her body still creeps me out today.
It’s the Great Pumpkin. Charlie Brown is an institution now. For almost 60 years, this special has been on the air and watched over and over again by me. I have the special on DVD, so I won’t get an Apple TV+ subscription to watch it. In my honest opinion, the special should’ve stayed on network TV.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is both a Halloween and Christmas movie. I prefer to watch it at Halloween because it gets me in the mood, and I can share the Tim Burton film with Zora.
I can’t forget about the one cartoon that has been around since I was a kid: The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Terror. My favorite episodes are those in which they lampoon various episodes from The Twilight Zone and parody Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven. One year, they even parodied A Nightmare on Elm Street.
That’s it for today. I’ll see you in tomorrow’s post!
