Today, I chaperoned a field trip to one of my favorite places in Chicago: Adler Planetarium. It has been on Lake Michigan since 1930, making it the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. I love the entire Museum Campus of the city, which also houses the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Soldier Field.
The kids were excited because it was their first time next to Lake Michigan and at the planetarium. Zora got to see a moon rock, build a makeshift parachute and make it fly, and explore the play area to her heart’s content.
I ventured into the gift shop, where everything was overpriced. I wanted a hoodie, but I wouldn’t pay the amount they wanted. I ended up not buying anything at that time. I did get Zora a souvenir penny with the Adler pressed on it.
The kids saw a show about the solar system, had lunch, and Zora got sleepy. She slept on the way back to the school, and I took her home after the trip. I took some pictures with the kids, and I won’t post them because I don’t have permission from the parents to do so. I also enjoyed myself, remembering the number of times I visited as a kid and an adult. While going through some issues, I would go to the Museum Campus and sit in the grassy knoll next to the planetarium to think and stare at the lake and the skyline. That’s a story for another day.
That’s it for now. I’ll see you in tomorrow’s post!
