Friday night, I watched the Greyhound bus leave the station, with my mom and Zora on board. For the next several days, I will have an empty apartment to myself and a quiet phone.
What is a single mother to do with all of this extra time on her hands?
As of right now, Zora and her grandma are in Alabama for a full week. She’s going to meet some of her distant relatives and attend a Juneteenth event while she’s there. When she comes back to town, she’s going to summer camp because she expressed a desire to learn how to swim.
I am going to completely declutter the apartment while Zora is gone. Old clothes, shoes, papers, and other items will be sorted and put in piles: keep, give away, and garbage. I have about five bags of items going to a clothing donation box, and the same to the dumpster in the back of the apartment. So far, I placed the giveaway clothes in my car so I can drop them off. Someone else can utilize the clothes and shoes Zora and I are no longer wearing.
I also decided to film myself unboxing some items I bought throughout the past two weeks for YouTube. I am also going to post to Instagram by chopping up the video and making a reel out of it. That video may go up later this week or beginning of next week.
I am attending a wedding in a few days. The lead-up to the days will consist of me trying out makeup looks, and getting my hair and nails done. I’ll try to get some footage of the wedding, but it’s more likely that I’ll take a lot of pictures and post a select few on Instagram and Facebook.
Later this summer, I plan on attending a lot of events with Zora and taking a lot of pictures before it’s time to buckle down and get her ready for the first grade at her school. I do want to get more street clothes for her and get a jump on buying the winter gear she will need.
That’s it for now. I’ll see you all in the next post!
