I finally went outside for the first time in a long time! St. Patrick’s Day Weekend was the perfect weekend for me to meet up with a friend, take Zora to the Chicago River, and watch the river get dyed green to ring to kick off the festival season. I am excited to get outside for all of this!
I have wanted to meet up with one of my friends for a long time, but our schedules didn’t match up. Last Friday, I met up with a great friend I’ve known for about 28 years for coffee. I got there early, and I had a book on hand that I was reading while I waited for her to show up. Usually, I’m not too into fantasy, but I have read the Harry Potter series in its entirety and seen the movies, and I’m a huge fan of Game of Thrones. I digress. When she did show up, we picked up right where we left out. She forgot Zora wasn’t coming, but I gave her a picture of her. We talked for about two hours until she had to leave for an appointment.

The next day, the Chicago River was dyed. Zora and I left early in the morning for food before going to Wabash and Wacker Drive. At 8:30 a.m., it was already filled with onlookers who had the same idea as me and her. I managed to buy her a hat, and I got a tee shirt for the event. I won’t post the picture of the profanity-laced St. Patrick’s Day shirt, but you can imagine what it said. Walking around the area, we saw people dressed in every way possible, even a guy wearing green and white tights, a green tutu, and an orange wig. I didn’t get a shot of that, but I got a video of Zora dancing in the street. I managed to get a few pictures taken and some footage to upload to YouTube. Zora was ready to go home and didn’t want to stay for the parade. I also wanted to have fun, but she wasn’t seeing anything, so we got on the train and headed home.
On Monday, I had a meeting downtown for a job readiness program, so I went to the river. It was still green, so I took some pictures. I didn’t get to go to the South Side Irish Parade or the Northwest Side Irish Parade, but I took consolation that Zora got to see a part of downtown. I will take her another day when it gets warmer.

That’s it for today. I have a video to edit and I’ll see you in the next post!
