Readers, I have a secret I’ve been hiding from you. For a year and a half, I’ve been writing my first novel. I can’t wait to finish and get it published!
Let me back up a bit. I’ve been in creative writing for almost twenty-five years, but I’ve only taken it more seriously since the 2010s. During that time, I’ve written short stories and poems, and I want to dip my toes into essay writing. When the 2010s came around, I was ready to start a website and share my writings, photography, and thoughts on everyday life. Then, sometime in 2013, life kicked me in the balls.
Fast-forward to now. I am turning a short story I wrote last year and published online into my first novel. I began writing the story in fragments and scenes. I grabbed a notebook and wrote out some character sketches, full scenes, and other information that are leading to a three-book series that’s coming up. I have the bulk of the chapters written except for three. Once the story is complete, I’ll send it to my editor and work on how I want the cover to look and how to add e-commerce to this site. I can’t wait to start selling my first book!
That’s it for today. I’m going to be 42 in a couple of weeks. I plan to film a video to mark my birthday and where I am and post it to YouTube. I’ll be back in the next post!
